Quality Control Order (QCO) for Toys
Subject: Compulsory BIS certification for Toys (HSN Code 9503).
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, under the powers conferred by section 16 of the BIS Act, 2016, has issued a Quality Control Order (QCO) for toys. This order makes it mandatory for all toys, whether domestically manufactured or imported, to conform to the corresponding Indian Standard IS 9873 and bear the standard mark under a license from BIS.
